Biological therapy is a form of treatment that works with patients’ immune systems. It can help fight cancer or help control side effects (how your body reacts to the drugs you are taking) from other cancer treatments like chemotherapy.
There are many kinds of biological therapies. The following is a list of some types of biological therapies used for colorectal cancer care:
Camptosar, Eloxatin, and Avastin are usually given in combination with 5-FU for metastatic colorectal cancer. Erbitux is administred intravenously either alone or with Camptosar. Vectibix is usually administered along with 5-FU and leucovorin.
