Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and atherosclerosis are a global ‘epidemic’. CVD is the leading cause of death in the United States, India, China and Europe. Combined, these countries account for nearly half of the global population, (US 308 million, EU 501 million, India 1.21 billion, China 1.34 billion people1).
Many people mistakenly think of cardiovascular disease as something that only affects the heart. In fact cardiovascular disease attacks the body as a whole and can lead to a large number of serious and potentially life-threatening diseases.
